Olympic Games Paris 2024

After 100 years since last time, Paris will be the theatre of Summer Olympic Games again!
The famous blue, yellow, black, green and red Olympic ring has been recently installed on a Parisian icon; can you guess where? Of course on to the Eiffel Tower!
The city is ready (almost) to welcome the millions of spectators coming from all over the world to what is promising to be one of the most spectacular games ever.

For the fist time in the history the opening ceremony will be not held in a stadium, in fact the 10.500 athletes from 206 delegations are going to be greeted by people while coming on floating boats through the river la Seine. Can you imagine how unique it will be?
The 6 Km route is due to start from Austerliz Bridge until Iena Bridge with a great finish in front of Trocadero where the final show will take place.

Surprises are not finished yet! The most emblematic monuments of the city are used as venues for the majority of the sports promising to give an unforgettable and unique backdrop.
Beach volleyball events will take place on the Champ-de-Mars opposite to the Eiffel Tower, archery on the esplanade at Les Invalides, fencing and taekwondo under the glass roof of the Grand Palais and the Palace of Versailles will be the venue for equestrian events.

What is even more exceptional is that during the event all the Touristy attractions such as: Louvre, Orsay, Les Invalides, Opera Garnier and Versailles will remain open and running tours, with the only exception for the 26th of July - day of the opening ceremony.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games held in Paris will be the biggest event ever organised in France and there is nothing better than live it in person.

Useful informations & Tips:

  • Olympic Games: 26th of July - 11th August & Paralympic Games: 28th August - 8th September

  • from 18th to 26th of July the Parisian Police Prefecture has set up a perimeter around the area where the opening ceremony will take place. The aim is to ensure safety for spectators, athletes and local residents. Access to this perimeters (which take into consideration all the central area of the city) requires a Games Pass, which may take several days to be issued. In order to obtain one, all people (residents included) concerned will have to be registered on the Paris Police Prefecture’s platform. Pedestrian access is authorized, but subject to possession of Games Pass.

  • The i?le de France region will host 25 Olympic venues and 17 Paralympic Venues with an average of 500.000 spectators per day. As you can imagine most of the street in the central Paris will be closed to the traffic. No Panic! All the venues are 100% accessible to public transportation. To get familiar with the Parisian public transportation and in order to organise in advance how to get around the city I recommend downloading the city mapper app. The app will give you the flexibility to choose the method of travel you prefer: bus, metro, foot and suggest the best option for you to choose.
